MAJOR DHYANCHAND THE MAGICIAN OF HOCKEY

STORY OF MAJOR DHYANCHAND  NATIONAL SPORT DAY (29 AUGUST)  BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF  MAJOR DHYAN CHAND SINGH Major  Dhyan Chand  (29 August 1905 – 3 December 1979) was an Indian hockey   player and the greatest hockey player in the history of the sport He was known for his extraordinary goal-scoring feats, in addition to earning three Olympic gold medals, in 1928, 1932 and 1936, during an era where India dominated field hockey. His influence extended beyond these victories, as India won the field hockey event in seven out of eight Olympics from 1928 to 1964. Known as  The Wizard    or  The Magician   of hockey  for his superb ball control, Chand played internationally from 1926 to 1949; he scored 570 goals in 185 matches according to his autobiography,  Goal .  The Government of India  awarded Dhyan Chand India's third highest civilian honour of Padma Bhushan  in 1956. Blaise Pascal Blaise Pascal (1623 - 1662) was a French mathematician, physicist, inventor, writer and Catholic theologian. He was a child prodigy who was educated by his father, a tax collector in Rouen. Pascal's earliest work was in the natural and applied sciences, where he made important contributions to the study of fluids, and clarified the concepts of pressure and vacuum by generalising the work of Evangelista Torricelli. Pascal also wrote in defence of the scientific method. In 1642, while still a teenager, he started some pioneering work on calculating machines. He built 20 finished machines (called Pascal's calculators and later Pascalines) over the following 10 years, establishing him as one of the first two inventors of the mechanical calculator.
